Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has said that Luka Modric is an important player for his side.
Modric, 38, has made 8 appearances for Real Madrid so far this season – 6 LaLiga games and 2 matches played in the UEFA Champions League.
According to Transfermarkt.com, the Croatian international featured for 206 minutes in the 6 La Liga games – and tasted action for 106 minutes in the 2 UCL games – totalling 312 minutes out of possible 720 minutes.
Similarly, the midfielder is yet to produce a goal or assist for the Spanish heavyweight this season.
However, Ancelotti has lauded the professionalism and importance of Modric in the team.
“Modrić is not happy and that’s obvious but I talk to him everyday and he’s still extra motivated. No one is like him inside the dressing room, he’s the leader – his importance is maximum,” Ancelotti stated as quoted by Sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano.
The Real Madrid gaffer added: “I love him very much, we all love him.”
When asked if the one-time Ballon d’Or winner will leave in January, the former Everton manager said: “Absolutely not. No chance. He doesn’t want to leave. He thinks he’s an important player and we think the same. He’s a very important player for us. We’re happy to keep him.”
